Reservoir Cleaning
Underwater Reservoir Cleaning, Inspections, Maintenance & Repairs
Waters Marine has extensive experience in cleaning, inspecting and maintaining hundreds of reservoirs. These range from small 30 metre high elevated towers, to larger reservoirs up to 10,000m2 floor area and 138 metres long. Due to our method of cleaning we are not limited to any maximum size. We provide an experienced team of commercially trained divers, with confined space training to carry out the following operations in today’s current climate of drought and water restrictions, the process of inspecting, cleaning and maintaining reservoirs can all be conducted while the reservoir remains full, thus preventing the waste of water.
 | Reservoir Cleaning
Reservoirs are cleaned using diver controlled vacuums to remove sediment waste and silt from the reservoir floors.
 |
-
- Reservoir can remain online providing minimal downtime and minimal water loss.
- Various vacuums specifically designed for the purpose of cleaning a range of reservoirs and types of sediments.
- Divers wear full face masks and dry suits to prevent any contamination of potable water.
- Equipment used in reservoirs is stored in our custom designed trailer and dedicated to reservoir use only.
- During cleaning, divers look for signs of leaks or abnormalities.
- Upon completion, a comprehensive written report, including photos of faults, is provided in the following formats – (Hard Copy, CD or PDF File)
- After cleaning, the reservoir floor is clean of silt and sediment.
- Sediment removed from the reservoir can be pumped to client designated areas, including sewer, ponds or tankers.
- Our experience finds reservoirs need cleaning on average every 5 years.
 | Reservoir Inspections
Internal and external inspections can be carried out for the purposes of Asset Management, Future Planning, OH&S, and for the detection of leaks and sediment levels.
 |
-
- Inspections can be carried out whilst the reservoir is online, eliminating the need to drain the reservoir and waste water.
- We provide digital photos, or video evidence, to enable clients to view our findings.
- Live video inspections with communications, allows an engineer to talk to the diver, and direct the hand held video, whilst watching the screen on the surface.
- Data gathered through inspections will provide valuable information for asset management and future planning, providing a platform for long-term maintenance.
- Leak detection using food grade dyes is most efficient while the reservoir remains full and can be marked for repair underwater.
- Regular inspections allow monitoring of sediment level build-up over a period of time.
- Areas pertaining to OH&S can be indentified and reported with recommendations if required.
- Waters Marine has conducted thousands of inspections over the years and as a result have enhanced a reporting system that provides comprehensive and relevant information in an easy to understand format.
 | Reservoir Maintenance
Maintenance of reservoirs can be carried out both internally and externally, prolonging the life of the asset, and meeting OH&S requirements.
 |
-
External Reservoir Maintenance includes the fitting and repair of...
- Handrail systems
- Fall arrest systems
- Ladders
- Walkways
- Platforms
Internal Reservoir Maintenance includes the fitting and repair of...
- Internal ladder removal and fixing
- Internal pipes installation
- Inlet / outlet / scour screen fittings
- Leak repairs
- Concrete and paint repairs
- Removal of debris
- Plugging pipes for downstream work
 | Reservoir Leak Detection and Repair
Leaks in reservoirs can be found and repaired while the tank is still full and on-line, using potable water approved products.
 |
-
- Leak detection using food grade dyes is most efficient while the reservoir remains full and can be marked for repair underwater.
- Repairs are carried out using underwater epoxies and while the reservoir is online.
- All epoxies used are potable water approved.
- We are frequently involved in the testing of repair procedures and new products for reservoir repairs.
